Anixter Adhesives gets Accredited for the Aerospace Market (15.02.07)

Anixter Adhesives is proud to announce that it recently achieved its AS9120: 2002 accreditation - the Quality Management System requirement for aerospace stockist distributors.

As Anixter Adhesives started to establish itself as an adhesive distributor to the aerospace market, this quality certificate became an essential requirement. On the other hand, a major contract with an aerospace company required Anixter to be working towards AS9120. On the other hand, this credential has opened many opportunities for growth in the industry.

The process started with a thorough assessment by the Anixter management team of where the business was with respect to its current ISO9001 accreditation. Then, the team got a copy of the AS9120 requirements and analysed the gap between these and those of the ISO9001.

As a result, the business found that to fulfil the requisites of both accreditations it was necessary to change some procedures, and to standardise and formalise others.

After five months and much effort and hard work by the company's employees, Anixter Adhesives received its AS9120 accreditation ahead of schedule.

The company recognises that this standard allows greater control and traceability across all products being supplied into the industry. It proves that Anixter Adhesives can deal with customers specific requirements and provide bespoke services maintaining the same level of quality throughout its operations.

"AS9120 was a great achievement, but it was only the first step", says Dan Lynch Anixter Adhesives General Manager. "The challenge now is to maintain it, stick to the procedures and keep improving them".
